What are the Personal Styles?
Classic Traditional
Classic Sporty/Natural
Classic Romantic
Classic Dramatic
Classic Artsy/Unique
What I have found out about Personal Style over the years is that it is one of the primary reasons we have clothes that just sit in our closet and we never wear. They are perfectly good, we just don’t feel good in them. When we put them on, we end up saying, “it’s just not me”. We may have bought them because they were the latest fad, and we wanted to be “up to date” or because they looked great on someone whose appearance we admire.
When reading the descriptions of the individual personal styles, you will definitely see some traits that you feel you have in several of the descriptions, but there will be that one that everything in it describes you perfectly. It is easy to get swayed into wanting to be another style than the one you actually are. Maybe you are leaning toward Classic Traditional, and you think one of the other styles sounds more interesting or exciting.
Take my word for it, you will always be happier and feel better in your clothes in your own personal style. We always come back to it anyway, so we might as well identify it and learn to embrace it. Being a Classic Dramatic, like I am, is not always easy. Who wants to appear remote and aloof. Already being a “Winter”, and knowing from reading the “Inner Season”, a Winter can be intimidating just standing there, then add a Dramatic Personal Style i.e. “aggressive and bold”, it’s a wonder I have any friends! That is why I would rather dress Classic as my primary, and dramatic as my secondary. My hairstyle is a bi-level, which is dramatic, so I already have that element before I even get dressed!
No matter what your personal style is, you will have a happier life, feel better in your clothes, and have a much more organized and workable wardrobe by sticking to your own basic style. You will save yourself mistakes in choosing clothes, hairstyles, accessories, makeup, and even eye glasses, that are just not your personal style.
